Fabulous Fudge Brownie candle & ideas!

I just love the new Fabulous Fudge Brownie candle that Gold Canyon came out with in the fall catalog! I've burned it myself & it truly smells just like you're baking brownies . . . mmmmmm!

I also wanted to share some of my favorite brownie ideas. So, grab your favorite brownie mix, mix as directed & just add in whatever sounds best! Great brownie "add-ins": chopped up Ande's mints, chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet), white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, crushed toffee bar pieces, chopped nuts (your favorite kind). Or top with chocolate frosting with mini-marshmallows & chopped pecans for a "rocky road" style brownie!

Mmmm, are you craving chocolate yet? Host a "Death By Chocolate Party" with me this fall & we'll feature this Fabulous Fudge Brownie candle, you can make your favorite chocolate desserts or brownies & your friends will be pampered with chocolate from beginning to end! Just add a Sugar Cookie!

I've made some great fragrance combinations over the years just by adding a Sugar Cookie candle. The cinnamon/spice type fragrances are usually too strong for me, but adding a Sugar Cookie candle creates a perfect balance. Some of my favorites to add a Sugar Cookie candle to are Warm Apple Crisp & Pumpkin Pie. It ends up smelling like you're adding rich vanilla ice cream to these fall favorites!

Perfect Halloween Decor

The new "witches brew" votive/tealight holders are just too cute! The little witches feet make a perfect place card for this table setting but would also be a great compliment to any Halloween decorations that you already have! The flared black votive glass sits atop the shoes or can be removed and set next to the shoes so you can choose which way you like best, then fill with votives, tealights, or even candy!

Love Letters

I found a great organization that I want to donate some of my time to, making cards for children who are fighting difficult illness & just need something to cheer them up & brighten their day. The organization is called, Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness.

One of the things I was thrilled to do was to apply for a grant from the Prayer Child Foundation (http://www.prayerchild.org/), created by Gold Canyon. I received a check for $250 that I was able to pass along to the organization and then received a phone call from the founder of the organization. She thanked me profusely for the way that we were able to help & let me know that it would make a big difference to their organization. THANK YOU GOLD CANYON for letting me help make a difference!

If you want to donate hand-made cards or funds to Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness, you can find out more details on their website: http://www.loveletterscares.com/

Prayer Child Foundation

What a great privilege it is to work for a company with a heart as big as Gold Canyon's! The co-founders, Curt & Karen Waisath, wanted to give back to the community once their business was established & growing. So, they started the Prayer Child Foundation. A portion of the profits from Gold Canyon product sales goes to the Prayer Child Foundation, but 100% of Gold Canyon's profits on the Candles for Kids line goes to the Foundation. The Prayer Child Foundation helps children in need.

Get involved! Donate to the foundation or submit a grant application for a child who needs help at: http://www.prayerchild.org/ Or contact me to purchase one of our Candles for Kids

My Kiddo!

I just LOVE giving Chase a candle to play with. Each month we do a mini "photo shoot" with a Gold Canyon product, take lots of pictures, and then publish the cutest one on my website. He is a big "eater" (if you can't tell by the rolls in his arms!) and just loves the smell of the candles but also gets excited by the colors & shapes, like a new toy to play with.

Dressing up the Cottage Tealight Lamp

The cottage tealight lamp is one of my favorite holders! What a simple way to customize the look of it by threading a ribbon in the color of your choice through the holes in the bottom of the lamp shade!
This holder is a lot bigger than it may appear in the catalog, standing at 14 3/4 inches tall and would make the perfect addition to a light & airy guest room or really any room in the house.

Do you "candle care"?

At our national Convention this year, they put out a display of candles that had been partially burned. If you'll look closely, you can see 3 jars for each comparrison
  • one that hasn't been burned
  • one that has been burned & proper candle care has been used
  • one that has been burned without proper candle care

The one with proper candle care shows a pretty clean jar while the one without is black from soot!

So what's the proper way to burn a candle to avoid the soot?

  • use a wick dipper to extinquish the candle
  • trim the wicks before burning
  • keep out of any drafts
  • burn for no more than 4 hours at a time
  • ALWAYS extinguish the candle if you can see smoke being put off by the wicks, fix the problem (remove from draft or trim the wicks) and light again

Welcome to the beginning!

I'm just beginning this new blog & am so excited! For a long time, I've wanted to figure out the best way to share details here & there with my customers without bombarding them with e-mails all the time & I think this is it! I am so passionate about Gold Canyon products that I just want to share all the time.

For those who are finding me at the beginning of this blog, I hope you'll enjoy it. Feel free to make comments or ask questions & you can always find me at my website as well: www.gottahavecandles.com
