Green Week Continues with Green Cleaning Tips!

I remember helping my Great Grandma with house cleaning one summer . . . she used vinegar for everything & it worked! I love the idea of non-chemical cleaning, but my husband isn't particularly fond (okay, he hates) of the smell of vinegar. But he loves the smell of Gold Canyon's Homeology products.

And here's some other ideas for being environmentally friendly while you're cleaning house with homeology products:

1. Use newspaper to clean glass & mirrors
2. Use a microfiber mop with our floor cleaner - no waste-water to throw away & you throw the microfiber cloth in the wash along with a load of towels to clean it & re-use it
3. Instead of using new or disposable cloths, use old cotton t-shirts that can be cut up into cleaning rags

A Must-Have for Moms!

We've been dealing with sick kids around here & I've discovered a "must-have" tool for around my house . . . Homeology! Sorry to be gross, but we've had throwing up (repeatedly) by a toddler that doesn't know to get to the bathroom when it starts to happen. The smell was horrible & really penetrates into surfaces like my carpet & couch.

I used our Rosemary Mint All-Purpose cleaner (spray & blot) to clean the carpet and after that I used the Mandarine Eucalyptus Clove Cleanser/Deoderizer - just sprinkled it all over the areas, waited a few hours & vacuumed it up. My husband wasn't home during one of the incidents & when he got home he said he couldn't even tell that there had been any throwing up that day! Hooray for Homeology . . . my lifesaver & something I will make sure to always have on hand!

Bonus Use #1: Home Improvement Solutions

When we move into a new house, we're always amazed at what the previous owners did to it. We were covering up one of those crazy paint jobs (a poorly done green faux finish) left from the previous owners, when we noticed that all the light switch & electric outlet plates had paint on them as well. I tried scraping it off & it didn't work too well. So, I sprayed them with my ALL-PURPOSE cleaner and was amazed at the result. Using my fingernail, I just scraped the paint right off soooo easily! It also worked on the metal pieces where the door meets the door jam (don't know what they're called), though those took a little more work to scrape off, but certainly so much easier than doing it without the All-Purpose cleaner!

Product Spotlight: Homeology Glass Cleaner

A natural cleaner for glass--As long as it’s not raining, cloudy days are better for cleaning windows because the sun won’t dry the glass cleaner prematurely before it can do the job.--Use newspaper for cleaning glass.
