Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so grateful for so many things this year! One of the best has been the addition of our little Chase to our family after years of waiting for children to come into our family. My Gold Canyon business provided the extra money that paid for the fertility treatments that got little Chase here, so I am also so grateful for my Gold Canyon business and for the customers who have supported my business. THANK YOU!!!

Are Soy Candles Better?

I get asked this question a lot these days. I guess a lot of people are being told that it is better to burn soy candles than paraffin candles. Knowing that I sell paraffin, you can probably guess that I would say "no way"! But I won't do that. Instead, I'll tell you to check it out for yourself to get the information from an unbiased source that KNOWS the candle industry. Check out the FAQ section of the website for the National Candle Association: http://www.candles.org/about_faq.html

Here's what it says on the issue:
"What kinds of waxes are typically used in candles?"
"The most commonly used candle wax is paraffin. Beeswax, soy wax, palm wax, gels, and synthetic waxes are also frequently used in candles. Different blends of these waxes are popular with many manufacturers."

"Are certain candle waxes better than others?"
"No. All types of quality candle waxes have been shown to burn cleanly, safely and in the same manner. U.S. candle manufacturers select waxes or blends of waxes based on their suitability for specific types of candles or formulation profiles, as well as their own candle-making preferences."

Christmas Delivery Deadline -- Special Delivery Options!

Well, all this talk about great gifts & I completely forgot to mention a deadline for Christmas delivery. If you're ordering gifts that you need delivered by Christmas, I recommend placing your order through me or on my website no later than December 5th.

Special Delivery Options!
Do you normally purchase & then package & ship gifts to people on your list? How about a time saving solution for you? You can purchase gifts from my website (www.gottahavecandles.com) - we have some great pre-packaged gift boxes or you can just pick out individual products to send - and have them delivered directly to the recipient for only $5.95 shipping! Purchase each gift separately & ship directly to the person you are giving it to.

THEN, make sure you contact me by phone or e-mail. Let me know you placed your order & let me know of any custom message you'd like to send to the recipient, along with the recipient's name & address and your name & address. I will send a custom gift card to let them know a package is on its way to them from Gold Canyon; it will also include your message and a tip sheet for taking care of their candles.

Homeology - Rave Reviews & a great Gift Idea!

I just heard from Jamie R. who recently ordered the Homeology All-Purpose cleaner. She gave it rave reviews, said her husband loves the way it smells & teases that she cleans now just for the smell of the cleaner! She also loves that it is a great value and safe to use on her daughter's high chair, without worry of chemicals.

Jamie said she's going to buy a bunch of bottles for Christmas presents. Her idea was to pair them with some dish towels & wash cloths. She'll also be adding an olive oil decantur that she'll be filling with dish soap for that extra special touch.

Thanks for the great gift idea, Jamie!!

Spilled Wax

My 8 month old, Chase, was left with a babysitter today. He got a hold of the cord for the pod warmer & pulled the entire pod warmer down, spilling melted wax all over the carpet. This is proof positive about the cool burning temperature of our jar candle wax. Chase didn't scream or complain, just proceeded to play in good smelling mess!

So, how to clean it up? Put a white paper towel or brown paper bag on top of the wax and use a warm iron over it to pull the wax up into the paper towel or paper bag. We went through several paper towels to clean it up, but it did a great job & took care of most of the spilled wax. The rest of the wax we'll be cleaning up with our liquid Wax Remover.
