Grateful for Food Grade Parafin Wax

At 8 months old, Chase is basically just getting into anything & everything right now. I thought I had everything out of his reach, but when I walked in the front room today, he had one of my candle samples in his hands & he's at that stage when everything goes in his mouth -- actually he's been at that stage since he was born, hmmm.

Anyway, it reminded me of how glad I am that our jar candles are all made with FDA approved food grade parafin wax. So, while I don't sell candles for them to be eaten, I know that if a kid (mine or someone else's) gets a finger full of wax in their mouth, its okay! I don't have to freak out or call poison control or anything!

Note: our pillars are not made of food grade parafin wax, but the rest of our candles are.

Fall Table Display

Wow! Talk about a beautiful fall table display! Where to start . . . our CREAM TAPERS look beautiful in the DUAL HAMMERED GLASS with a fall leafe underneath or a ribbon tied around, add to that the elegant touch of a 6" TANGERINE & SPICE PILLAR with raffia wrapped around and the base surrounded by small, colorful fruits, sitting on top of a RUFFLED CANDLE PEDESTAL. The RUFFLED CANDLE PEDESTAL is used again as place card for each setting, topped with a bundled pinecone, placecard, and other fall decorations. And check out that centerpiece, our FOOTED GLASS HURRICANE filled with some nuts and topped with a 19OZ PUMPKIN PIE JAR.

Recreate this entire setting or pick & choose your favorite parts. It will be sure to be an impressive site on your Thanksgiving table or for any dinner party this fall!

Fall Display Idea

One of the things I just love to share are great ideas for displays, using our candles & some of our great holders! Fortunately for me, Gold Canyon puts out some beautiful displays for us to see (& take pictures of) at our national convention . . . so I don't have to come up with the ideas myself! Here is one of the fall displays we got to view.

Here you'll see the IRON VOTIVE CENTERPIECE front & center with a beautiful ribbon wrapped around it. On either side are the DUAL HAMMERED GLASSES with the HARVEST ORANGE TAPERS. And on the left hand side you can see our specialty HARVEST HEARTH candle featured both by itself & inside of the FOOTED GLASS HURRICANE.

If you want to re-create all or part of this beautiful fall display, you can order the items you love most directly from my website at www.gottahavecandles.com or by phone (410-551-0648) or e-mail (kim.milius@goldcanyon.us).

1 - 16oz autumn walk
1 - 15.5oz sleigh ride
1 - 5oz holiday wreath

Re-converted

I love our Emerge body products! But I have to confess that I have never been an avid lotion user. Having been in Arizona for a few months now, my skin is feeling the affects of the dry air. And today, I was so miserable because I could FEEL the dryness in my arms and legs. I got out my Emerge body lotion and I have to tell you that I feel so much better. My skin is noticeably more soft, but that dry itching feeling is gone as well -- and that was something I just had to share.

A Halloween Treat!

One of my favorite Halloween treats is so easy to prepare but so delicious! Just combine an equal amount of candy corn & dry roasted peanuts together & serve -- tastes just like a Payday candy bar!

And if you love candy corn, you won't want to miss out on our Candy Corn candle. With a perfect candy corn fragrance, it smells great but looks great too in its adorable specialty jar!

Halloween Decorating Ideas

Are you getting ready for Halloween? Creating costumes & buying candy for trick-or-treaters? Don't forget to dress your home for the holiday too! Here's some great ideas for an incredible table setting for a dinner party. But you can take some of the same ideas and use them throughout your home just for decoration, if you're not having a dinner party.

It's only 3 weeks away, so order right away in order to have your products in time for Halloween.

Try these decorating ideas:

The CANDY CORN CANDLE is "packaged with home-crafted charm in a glass jar with a black ribbon and a hanging felt candy corn."

The GHOULISH HALLOWS holders come in a set of 2. These are "haunted trees" and "the front sides are painted a ghoulish black while the back sides are purple and orange" and fit a 5oz candle.

The WITCHES BREW are "whimsical witches' feet" that hold a votive or tealight or fill them with candy corn and a place setting card as seen on the dinner plates on this table setting.

And you can create the striking centerpiece with our FOOTED GLASS HURRICANE, filled with brightly colored candy corn & other candies (using the colors of your choice) and a 6 INCH BLACKBERRY & VANILLA PILLAR CANDLE.

My Favorite Gingerbread Recipe!

Gold Canyon introduced a brand new fragrance this fall called Gingerbread House. It was love at first smell for me as it brought back memories one of my favorite desserts. For a great gingerbread scent in your house, you can make this recipe or just burn a Gingerbread House candle! Or how about trying out the recipe & keeping the candle on hand so that you don't have to cook EVERY time you'd like to smell the fragrance!

Gingerbread Cake with Streusel

Beat together:
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup molasses

Add:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves

Then Add: 1 cup hot water - mixing until smooth, then pour into greased 9x13 pan

Mix together:
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cube margarine
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Sprinkle chunks of sugar mixtgure over top of the batter. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut when cool.

This is great served with cool whip or ice cream, just like the Gingerbread House candle would be great when burned with our Sugar Cookie candle!

Cranberry Freeze Recipe

My absolute favorite Gold Canyon fragrance is Cranberry Orange! For most of us, the thought of cranberries reminds us of Thanksgiving dinner. My mom makes a twist on the traditional cranberry sauce that is a big crowd pleaser & I thought I'd share the recipe with you. Maybe it could be an addition to your holiday meals this year!

And if you want the Cranberry Orange candle as a nice holiday gift for someone or even just to keep for yourself -- after all, its perfect for any time of year --, you can order through my website (www.gottahavecandles.com) or by phone (410-507-8136) or e-mail (kim.milius@goldcanyon.us).

Cranberry Freeze

Cream together: 8oz. cream cheese
3 Tbs. sugar
3 Tbs. mayonnaise
Add: 1 can whole cranberries sauce
1 medium can crushed pineapple
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Blend in 2 cups of cool whip & freeze to set.
